25KB gives you about a quarter more room than 20KB, and that headroom is visible: faces keep finer edges and signatures keep thin strokes. It is a limit you meet on some job and university portals that say “photo up to 25KB” without any pixel requirement.

Example. Take a photo that came out at 31KB at 40% quality in another tool. Here you would type 25, and the tool lowers the quality in small steps instead of one big jump, which keeps the face cleaner than a blunt 25% preset.

Getting a sharper result

  • Start from the original camera file, not a copy sent over chat.
  • Photograph with the light in front of you. Shadows across the face cost bytes and add noise.
  • Do not zoom digitally before taking the picture. Zoomed photos are already soft and compress poorly.

What goes wrong

  • Choosing 25 when the real limit is 25 MB. Read the unit.
  • Cropping the face too small inside the frame. The tool has to enlarge or keep surrounding pixels, wasting bytes.
