Compress to 30KB for portals that want a small but clear photo.

KB
Advanced (optional): exact pixels or minimum KB

Many forms ask for pixels as well as KB. Leave empty if yours does not. Examples are common sizes only – always use the size your form states.

What 30KB looks like

At 30KB a portrait photo is usually about 250 × 320 pixels: enough for a clear face in a form box, not enough to print or crop further. It is a sensible cap for applications that store an image next to a record, such as student or membership databases.

Example. A group photo reduced to 30KB loses faces first, because each face has so few pixels. If several people must be visible, ask whether the portal accepts 100KB instead.

Prepare the picture

  • Use a single subject with a plain background.
  • Rotate the image upright before compressing. Sideways photos are sometimes rejected even when the size is right.
  • Leave a little margin around the head so a crop by the portal does not cut the chin.

Know when to stop

If the result looks muddy, compare it with the 50KB version. When the form allows both, take the larger one; the difference in sharpness is clear.

Questions about: Compress Image to 30KB

Does compressing to 30KB change the photo shape?

No, unless you enter width and height in Advanced options. By default the proportions stay the same.

Why did my image get rotated?

Phones store rotation as a tag. Modern browsers apply it when the picture is drawn, so the result normally looks upright; if a portal still shows it sideways, rotate the original first.

Is 30KB enough for a CV photo?

For an online application box yes. For a printed CV, use a larger file.

About the Compress Image to 30KB tool

Use this page to get a photo, scan or signature to 30KB or less. Type the limit and the tool finds the highest JPG quality that fits, reducing pixel dimensions only when it must. 30KB gives a face photo a little more detail than the tighter 20KB limit.

How to use the Compress Image to 30KB tool

  1. Tap “Select Images” and choose your JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC file.
  2. The size box is already set to 30. Change it only if your form states a different limit.
  3. Choose Crop to fit under Advanced if your form fixes the pixel size and you do not want the face stretched.
  4. Press the green button, check the Before and After sizes, then download the file (or the ZIP if you added several).

Can I upload a PNG or WebP image for 30KB?

Yes. PNG, WebP, JPG and HEIC files are all accepted, and the result is saved as a JPG.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The tool runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install. An iPhone HEIC file loads a converter script the first time you use one.
