One megabyte limit

1MB is the cap on many contact forms, helpdesk uploads and older content systems. Most modern phone photos are 3–8 MB, so you need to cut them down by a factor of three to eight, which usually costs little visible quality.

Example. A 12-megapixel photo of 4 MB can often be brought under 1MB by lowering quality alone, with dimensions left almost unchanged. A 10 MB panorama may need pixels reduced as well.

How to proceed

  • Type 1024 (the box is in KB) if your form counts in binary units, or 1000 to be safe.
  • Compress many photos at once and send one ZIP if the form allows it.

Common problems

  • Entering 1 instead of 1024 in the box. That asks for 1KB.
  • Uploading several photos that each pass but together exceed a total limit on the form.
